Hogwarts Legacy Tips Tricks: a student can be seen in front of Hogwarts

Hogwarts Legacy is one of the biggest RPGs of 2023 and if you are jumping in you may be wondering what you need to know. Well, this is where we come in as we have seven Hogwarts Legacy tips and tricks to help you out as you start your school year.

These tips will cover some initial things you will want to do during the opening missions in the game and as you get acquainted with the variety of Hogwarts Legacy spells and equipment you can use. All of these tips come from our Hogwarts Legacy review playthrough as well.

Hogwarts Legacy Tips Tricks: Two students can be seen brewing

Explore Hogwarts

Our first tip is to explore Hogwarts as much as you can. There are tons of secrets hiding away in the hallways of the castle and finding each one will be a huge benefit. Whether it helps you level up, gives you new gear, or just unlocks some new rooms, there are tons of ways you can boost your power or just help yourself by taking the time to explore rather than rush through the Hogwarts Legacy quests.

Use Revelio to reveal secrets

Following on from that, be sure to use Revelio all around Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, and the Hogwarts Legacy map. This will reveal even more secrets and hidden loot around the castle which will be invaluable as you take on tougher and tougher enemies.

Make the most of Stupefy

Stupefy is one of the most powerful attacks you have. When fighting, hold down the block button to return a block with a stun, which will keep enemies vulnerable for a period of time, allowing you to land a follow-up attack or just get out of danger.

Combine spells

Next, you are going to want to combine your core spells you get early on like Levioso, Incendio, and Accio, to chain attacks and keep up combos. This is the most effective way to take down Hogwarts Legacy bosses and tougher enemies. So, be sure to really chain attacks wherever you can.

Clean out your inventory often

Next, when you are having some quiet time in the game, be sure to go to Hogsmeade and sell the items you aren’t using. These Hogwarts Legacy gear pieces are likely not that powerful so you can get some Hogwarts Legacy Gold along the way. In doing so, you will also free up room for high-level gear before you are able to properly upgrade your gear inventory in Hogwarts Legacy.

Focus on Assignments to unlock spells

Before you wrap up your starting days in the school, also spend time completing Hogwarts Legacy Assignments. These will allow you to spend most of your time upgrading spells which is key to being able to properly succeed in combat.

Hogwarts Legacy Tips Tricks: a beast can be seen

Find beasts when you can

Finally, finding Hogwarts Legacy beasts for your Vivarium is a good idea to help build it out while you are working on the Room of Requirement. The Hogwarts Legacy Room of Requirement is one of the late-game parts of the school experience.

That covers some key Hogwarts Legacy tips and tricks for getting started on your journey through the fifth year at the school. If you are still on the edge about buying the game then check out our Hogwarts Legacy review and read our Hogwarts Legacy walkthrough for even more guides.

Hogwarts Legacy has drawn considerable criticism during its development, largely due to the fact that the creator of the Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling, has made a number of transphobic remarks on social media in recent years.

While Avalanche has confirmed that J.K. Rowling is not “directly involved” in the development of Hogwarts Legacy, it is working with “her team” and Portkey Games, a Warner Bros. label dedicated to launching new experiences inspired by J.K. Rowling’s original stories. It is currently unclear whether she will earn any royalties from the game’s sale, but it is likely given it is based on her original body of work.
