We can finally put the rumours to rest because the next Sims game is real, but when is The Sims 5 release date (Project Renee)? Well, EA has announced the next game alongside a whole host of new information what to expect. If you’re a long-suffering Sims fan or you’ve just been sucked in by the fact The Sims 4 has gone free-to-play, then you’ll no doubt be excited at what EA has unveiled so far.
Here’s everything you need to know, as well as the game’s trailer, gameplay, and news. The game is still quite a while off, however, so don’t expect to see more for a while.
The Sims 5 release date speculation
The Sims 5 (Project Rene) is expected to release in 2024 or 2025. Despite, being unveiled in an announcement at the Behind The Sims Summit, only early gameplay and details were shared, which suggests that it is still a while away from releasing.
We’re still quite a way away from getting our hands on the game too, as EA said they still have years until release. Plus, with Sims 4 now free-to-play and EA committed to expanding the game with more content, we’ll be kept entertained in the process.
The Sims 5 platforms
The Sims Project Rene hasn’t revealed any platforms yet as the game is very early into development and has a year to go until release according to EA.
But, we would expect it to release on PC, as well as consoles, given the parity work which has been put into The Sims 4 on consoles.

This game sounds like it will be a live service and next-generation Sims game like never before and far more innovative. This includes the ability to change the colors, shapes, and designs of your objects. You can also play and create with your friends, across different devices like a PC and mobile.

Now that Behind the Sims is done and dusted for another year, it’s unlikely we’ll hear any more The Sims Project Rene news for a while. It’s likely that the developers will want to get their heads down and work on the game and with the game a while away, any more reveals will be kept back for another day likely in the second half of 2023.
