The Destiny 2 Stargazer quest steps are:
- Loot the Terminal Overload reward chest at the end of the activity
- Defeat the Vex Hydra in the Esi Terminal area to obtain a high-security passcode
- Obtain a Terminal Overload Key
- Use the key to open a Terminal Overload Key Chest at the end of the activity
- Return to the Hall of Heroes
- Return to Quinn
While there aren’t all that many Destiny 2 Stargazer quest steps to complete, it can be a time consuming quest given that you have to complete the Terminal Overload activity twice, as well as getting your hands on a Terminal Overload Key.

Destiny 2 Stargazer quest step 1 – Terminal Overload reward chest
The first step in the Destiny 2 Stargazer quest is to complete the Destiny 2 Terminal Overload activity in Neomuna and loot the reward chest. This step does not require you to have a Terminal Overload Key, since it refers to the basic reward chest at the end of the activity.
Remember that the Terminal Overload activity daily rotation causes it to change locations on a daily basis. While Terminal Overload might be in Ahimsa Park today, it’ll be in the Zephyr Concourse tomorrow. It’s as simple as checking the location of the activity before diving in.
Destiny 2 Stargazer quest step 2 – Vex Hydra passcode
The second step in the Destiny 2 Stargazer quest will point you towards the Esi Terminal area to the west of Neomuna. If you’ve got the Stargazer quest tracked in your menus, then you’ll see the icons to guide your way.
You’re looking for a Vex Hydra that will drop the high-security passcode when defeated. This isn’t a particularly tricky step, though the Vex Hydra will have reinforcement with it, so stay on your guard.
Destiny 2 Stargazer quest step 3 – get a Terminal Overload Key

Once you’ve got a Terminal Overload Key, you’re ready to take on the next step in the Stargazer quest.
Destiny 2 Stargazer quest step 4 – Terminal Overload Key Chest
Now that you’ve got a Terminal Overload Key, the Destiny 2 Stargazer quest will send you back into the activity to open the Terminal Overload Key Chest. These are the special reward chests at the end of the activity that require you to have a Terminal Overload Key at hand to be able to open.
Simply interact with the Terminal Overload Key Chest to spend your key and open the chest, progressing the Stargazer quest.
The rest of the Stargazer quest is pretty straightforward so you shouldn’t have too much trouble completing it. Return to the Hall of Heroes and interact with the objectives to finish the Stargazer quest.
