When the Call of Duty MW3 release date does roll around, it could easily rank among the best FPS games when it comes out, especially if it delivers on fan’s hopes.

When is the Call of Duty MW3 reveal?

The Call of Duty MW3 2023 reveal and announcement is confirmed to take place during the Shadow Siege event at 10:30 AM PT / 1:30 PM / 6:30 PM on Thursday, August 17, 2023, within Warzone. This was confirmed by Activision on the COD blog.

The details of the event are scarce right now, but we know the event in Warzone will ask you to form a four-member fireteam, and join Shadow Company forces in defeating Konni ranks, securing chemical weapons during it. There will also be a new base weapon for players to get access to during the event.

Ahead of the next game’s reveal event, the Call of Duty Twitter account has shared a video for the official title of the game, that being Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. They also confirmed the release date for the game, which is releasing on November 10, 2023.

Following that, Sledgehammer Games released the Makarov trailer, reiterating the Thursday, August 17, 2023 reveal date.

Previously, the game’s logo leaked via a Monster Energy promotion. It was also leaked on the Warzone banner, mentioned above. Additionally, the leaks began with a Federal Judge seemingly confirming Call of Duty 2023 would release in November during the FTC vs. Microsoft court battle, which was seemingly acknowledged by the Call of Duty Twitter account.

Following the details of the reveal event, the Call of Duty Blog confirmed “Carry Forward”, a system that will bring all unlocked cosmetics (with some caveats like Wartracks and certain vehicle skins) as well as all MW2 guns to Call of Duty MW3. However, MW3 weapons do not “Carry Back” to Modern Warfare 2.

A leak reported by Insider Gaming also revealed several important dates:

  • MW3 beta weekend 1 (PS4/PS5) – October 6, 2023 until October 10, 2023
  • MW3 beta weekend 2 (PS4/PS5/Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S/PC) – October 12, 2023 until October 16, 2023
  • MW3 Campaign Early Access (PS4/PS5/Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S/PC) – November 2, 2023
  • MW3 Full Release (PS4/PS5/Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S/PC) – November 10, 2023

With all this information swirling around, and a November 2023 release date, it is now practically guaranteed that we will see the game on August 17, 2023. Following that we will almost certainly see gameplay of the campaign and multiplayer ahead of the MW3 beta dates in October and MW3 early access.

In fact, an MW3 reveal in mid to late August also lines up with announcement timings for previous Call of Duty games. For example, Black Ops: Cold War was announced on August 26, 2020. The previous game, MW2, was revealed even earlier in April of 2022. But this goes back to a more traditional reveal schedule which we have seen in recent years.

What can we expect from the Call of Duty MW3 reveal?

We thought that the name would be officially revealed during the seasonal event, however, the name was confirmed via the Call of Duty Twitter account. So, we expect some details or an official first trailer. After this Call of Duty MW3 pre-orders will apparently go live according to leaks. We can expect to see a Modern Warfare 3 showcase event or a number of trailers across August and September that will go over all the new features and content in the game.

For reference, the MW2 showcase went in-depth on the maps, game modes, equipment, loadout features, and more. This time, given that MW3 was supposed to be an expansion to MW2, we think we will get smaller updates spread out over a number of weeks.

That covers the latest details on the MW3 reveal and announcement. We’re hoping to get more news on betas and the like soon, but leaks and rumors are already leading many to wonder if it will be one of the best competitive FPS games once it comes out.
