When is the Skull and Bones release date? The long-awaited game from Ubisoft Singapore has been delayed numerous times, but fans of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag have been eagerly waiting for a full-fledged pirate game from Ubisoft, and Skull and Bones could be it.
Given the number of delays and new release dates that Ubisoft has announced for the game, it would certainly be a surprise if Skull and Bones made its way onto our best games of all time list. However, many fans are patiently waiting to set sail when this upcoming PS5 game and upcoming Xbox game finally arrives, so here’s what we know.
Skull and Bones release date window
The Skull and Bones release date window is currently 2023 to 2024 on PS5, Xbox, and PC, according to recent Ubisoft financial targets, although we believe that the game is more likely to arrive in early 2024. There is, however, a Skull and Bones closed beta from August 25 to August 28, 2023.
Since the Assassin’s Creed Mirage release date is set for October 2023, we imagine that Ubisoft won’t want to contend with itself and other publishers by releasing two games in a short period of time. As such, it’s more than likely that the game will finally release in the first half of 2024 unless another delay occurs.

Skull and Bones gameplay
Skull and Bones is a multiplayer action-adventure game, where you’ll play as your own pirate, thanks to Skull and Bones character creation, to go from an outcast to an infamous pirate. You’ll need to survive by looting food, managing a crew that can become unruly and rebellious, crafting and wearing gear, and looking after your trusty ship.
There are a few pirate dens on different islands within the treacherous seas of Skull and Bones. Working towards contracts, plundering, taking part in events, and more will reward you with Infamy, as you progress towards becoming a pirate legend. Unfortunately, plenty of other players will stand in your way, meaning you’ll need to work alone or with friends to ensure you become the ultimate pirate. Fortunately, it doesn’t matter what platform you play on, as Skull and Bones crossplay is available.
During your pirating adventure, you’ll gain access to various ships with their own strengths and weaknesses, as well as different weapons ranging from classic cannons to rocket launchers. You can also gather resources across the ocean that will help you during your adventure. The different ways of getting new gear, gaining infamy, and securing your place in pirate legend offer a lot of creative freedom, once Skull and Bones finally lands.
