When is the Call of Duty MW3 release date? Leaks and rumors are already rife around Modern Warfare 3 and it sounds like an exciting update to the series. So, here’s everything you need to know about the new COD ahead of the MW3 2023 release date.

Despite past rumors that Activision would pivot to a two-year cycle for Call of Duty games and that there would be no Call of Duty game in 2023, we now know that to not be the case. MW3, which has had Sledgehammer Games at the helm as its lead developer, is all but confirmed to be the name of this year’s title. While we’re still awaiting an official reveal later this month, it could easily rank among the best FPS games when it comes out.

Call of Duty MW3 release date

The Call of Duty MW3 2023 release date is Friday, November 10, 2023, on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. This was confirmed in a reveal trailer for the game on August 7, 2023, ahead of the official reveal.

There was also the reveal of the villain of the game recently, with the Makarov trailer being the coldest yet. The ending of Modern Warfare 2 teased the return of the original MW3 villain for the third installment of the reboot series, and now, it’s been confirmed.

Not only does this line up with previous Call of Duty launches but it also originates from a reliable report from Insider Gaming. The FTC vs Microsoft court battle also revealed pertinent details when a Federal Judge seemingly confirmed Call of Duty 2023 would release in November. While no specific date was provided, the official Call of Duty Twitter account seemingly acknowledged the information leaked during the court hearing with a very suspicious post.

Additionally, the Call of Duty Twitter account also asked players whether Operators, weapons, and bundles from MW2 should carry on forward into Call of Duty 2023, promising a reveal on the topic “soon”. This also suggests that the next Call of Duty is, in fact, MW3, given the time period of the equipment that could potentially be carried forward. Highlighted by Jason Schreier, we know that this game was originally meant to be an expansion of MW2, so it lines up that it was inevitably fleshed out into a separate game.

The Modern Warfare 3 logo also leaked from a Monster Energy promotion, alongside key art. The MW3 reveal is set to take place on August 17, 2023, according to a leaked banner from within Warzone. This will be done through an in-game event within Warzone.

MW3 release date will now have stiff competition. Ubisoft’s free-to-play shooter XDefiant has been picking up steam throughout multiple playtests and it’s only going to go up from here. With the XDefiant release date likely landing before August ends, Activision could find their hardcore players have moved elsewhere. As such, MW3 has a lot of pressure on it to maintain the commercial success that MW2 achieved while also ironing out a lot of the issues that hardcore CoD players loathed with the Infinity Ward-developed title. No pressure, Sledgehammer.

Besides the MW3 release date, leaks have also revealed several important dates to mark on your calendars for MW3 early access and the MW3 beta. The latter will take place in October while Camapign early access will begin in November, a week before launch.

Importantly, the first rumored MW3 beta weekend is speculated to only be available on PS4 and PS5, before the second MW3 beta weekend opens the experience up to all platforms.

Call of Duty MW3 maps leak

Leaks have suggested that MW3 will feature remastered maps from the original Modern Warfare 2, including Scrapyard and Terminal. These leaks came from ‘CoD_Perseus’ which included supposed images of these remastered maps in MW3, though these have since been taken down.

While there are likely to be several new MW3 maps, it’s certainly surprising that we could see original MW2 maps remade in this title, rather than the MW2 2022 game. Again though, this is likely a hangover of MW3 being (reportedly) an expansion to MW2 that morphed into a full game.

There’s also a tease for the Warzone players who are hoping to see the return of an iconic map. The MW3 Makarov trailer teases Verdansk’s return, which is something that Warzone players have been waiting for since it was removed, with Caldera replacing it in the original Warzone.

Nevertheless, these are fan-favorite maps that fans are eager to see return boasting a brand-new look. Given the changes to the series since the original rendition of these maps, they should also offer a unique spin on what fans may be expecting from these iconic maps.

Call of Duty MW3 weapons leak

Further leaks by ‘CoD_Purseus’ point towards several new and returning MW3 weapons. Though the images have since been taken down, the leak revealed the Lach-9, BAS-B, MTZ-762, TAQ-V, ANVL-B, MCW, and the Sidewinder.

Some of these appear to be new variants within the weapon family system of MW2. For example, the BAS-B looks to be an assault rifle variant of the popular BAS-P SMG. Likewise, the Lach-9 could be a renamed Lachmann-Sub or even a new variant within the Lachmann weapon family. Meanwhile, the TAQ-V is a potentially returning weapon from MW2.

It’s highly likely that this is the case, with MW3 guns and weapons expanding upon many of the weapons available in its predecessor, rather than removing any from the expansive arsenal. Most exciting, however, is the entirely new weapons in store for us if leaks are accurate, such as the ANVL-B.

Call of Duty MW3 new Perk system rumors

According to leaks by ‘BoBNetworkUK’, MW3 will feature a new Perk system. While the overall approach is more similar to older titles, with Perks no longer having to be earned during a match, Perks are rumored to be based on a new gear system.

In this system, each gear item slot offers a Perk, with gear types restricting which Perks can be equipped. For example, the Ghost Perk is expected to be a boots effect. Meanwhile, gloves, vest, and helmet gear options will offer different Perks.

If this is the case, MW3 will revolutionize the Perk system despite returning the traditional Perks and functionality during a match. We’re excited to see how this change will impact builds and loadouts, as Perks often form the backbone of the setup, outside of your main weapons.

Call of Duty MW3 modes leak

The MW3 modes list will reportedly feature three main modes, those being campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies.

While these might sound like obvious inclusions, some have been absent in Call of Duty titles before. Black Ops 3 did not feature a traditional campaign, for instance, so its inclusion in MW3 gives hope for more stories with the beloved Captain Price, Soap, and the rest of the crew.

Likewise, Zombies is also set to make an appearance, reportedly as Outbreak 2.0. If the leaks by Insider Gaming are accurate, then this could even be released as a standalone free-to-play mode. For many players, this is the most promising addition so far, potentially revamping the popular Zombies mode with new features and settings following the Outbreak mode found in Black Ops Cold War.

And that’s everything you need to know about Modern Warfare 3 ahead of the MW3 release date, based on the latest news and leaks. If all the rumors are true, then MW3 could be one of the best competitive FPS games in recent years.
