When is the Fable release date? The Fable reboot was announced during the Xbox Games Showcase back in 2020 with a cinematic teaser ahead of the launch of the Xbox Series X|S. Since then, fans of Lionhead Studio’s original fantasy franchise have waited with bated breath for a chance to once more don the title of hero and set off on an adventure.
As one of the most exciting upcoming Xbox games right now, the anticipation of Fable is slowly bubbling up. Will it end up on our best Xbox RPG games list when it finally launches? Hopefully, it will, but for those looking forward to the release of the remake for now, here’s when to expect it to arrive.
Fable release date speculation
Fable is expected to be released in late 2024 on Xbox and PC. As of February 2023, Fable is in a playable state according to producer Vijay Gill on LinkedIn. Given the development issues that Fable has had, we believe this window is a good place for the game to land.
Not only that, but the official Xbox Twitter account has been teasing Fable being shown at the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase, with glitter and Fable music used in a small clip. And, it appeared, so it should hit next year.

Fable gameplay
While official gameplay hasn’t been revealed just yet, we do know the game is a reboot, focusing on the RPG elements of the original Fable series. Playground Games is also using the Forza Horizon 5 engine to power the upcoming title, which should be interesting considering the open world nature of the racing series.
The latest trailer for the game shows off an in-engine look at the experience, the beasts you will fight, and the antics you will get up to. It is looking incredibly impressive, and while we didn’t see a full gameplay sequence at the Xbox Games Showcase 2023 the trailer was incredibly impressive.
