Starfield is Bethesda’s next new action RPG and the first new IP developed by the studio famous for game franchises like Fallout and The Elder Scrolls in over 20 years. It sounds like a game that can’t be missed – but, what if you own a PlayStation console? Is a Starfield PS5 release and a Starfield PS4 release on the way?
While the Starfield release date isn’t here just yet, we do have an answer for PlayStation fans on whether you can play Bethesda’s newest IP. Can it join many other big expansive games on the best PS5 games list?
Is Starfield coming to PS5 and PS4?
Starfield is not be coming to PS5 and PS4 consoles at launch. The game is now a first-party Xbox game, only coming to Xbox Series X|S and PC, since Microsoft acquired Bethesda back in 2022.
Bethesda is a Microsoft studio now, essentially, and Starfield is just one of several new releases from Bethesda that will be an Xbox console exclusive – and available on PC. We don’t know how this rule will apply to any Fallout or Elder Scrolls games yet, franchises that have traditionally been on both consoles, but expect new franchises from the developer to be Xbox exclusive from now on.
You will be able to play it via Game Pass, though if you do want to play it on PC or through the Xbox Cloud Gaming.
We know it sucks that a Starfield PS4 release and Starfield PS5 release aren’t coming, but that’s just how things are now and we can’t change that.
