Coming from the same team behind the Friday The 13th game, the forthcoming adaptation of Tobe Hooper’s 70s horror opus confirms that the game will include functionality upon launch. According to a new blog post on the game’s website, developer Gun Interactive explains that “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre will have crossplay features, but being on eighth and ninth-generation consoles means there is far more to discuss than a simple announcement would do.”

Depending on what platform you choose to play The Texas Chain Saw Massacre on, there will be some caveats to consider when making your purchase. Gun Interactive outlines the following parameters to take on board, and it is sad news for eight generation consoles:

PS4 players will only be able to matchmake with other PS4 players
You won’t be teaming up with your buddies on PS5, but that’s okay, you’ll probably survive better without them. We hope. Booting into the game will have crossplay enabled already, but this can be turned off at any time, should you wish to do so. Whiles some games like Fortnite or Modern Warfare 2 can make matchmaking easier with an in-game social tab, there isn’t a friends list present in the game.
To get around this, the developer says that “players can create game-generated invite codes. Those codes can invite friends on different platforms to a party or directly load them into a lobby.”

Unfortunately, Friday The 13th isn’t the first of live service games in 2023 to meet an early end, with higher profile games like Marvel’s Avengers also receiving the same fate.
