The full list of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 characters not only brings back some fan favorites but introduces some characters who haven’t been seen in Insomniac’s version of the iconic web-slinger’s adventure yet. Whether it’s classic villain Venom making his debut in the PlayStation exclusive series, or the return of protagonist Peter Parker, AKA Spider-Man, there are plenty of people to meet.
As we approach the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 release date, we’re hoping that the game will enter our list of the best games, especially for those who are fans of Marvel’s most iconic character. That being said, no matter if we’re taking down Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 villains or enjoying New York as we swing by, here’s who you’ll be spending time with in the upcoming PS5 game.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 characters
Here are the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 characters we currently know about:
- Spider-Man (Peter Parker)
- Spider-Man (Miles Morales)
- Mary-Jane (MJ)
- Ganke Lee
- Venom
- Kraven
- Lizard
- Harry Osborn
- Norman Osborn

As you can see, there are already a lot of characters in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, building upon the great rosters of both the first game and the Miles Morales spin-off. In fact, being able to play as both Peter Parker and Miles Morales is one of the main new features of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
Alongside the iconic superheroes, there’s the returning cast of supporting characters like MJ and Ganke Lee. However, you can’t have a superhero game without villains, and Spider-Man 2 has that in spades. So, let’s dive in deeper into each of the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 characters.
Spider-Man (Peter Parker)
The original wall-crawler who the fans have known since the early 1960s, Peter Parker is the main character of the Marvel’s Spider-Man series. In Insomniac’s version of Spider-Man, Peter Parker has been the hero for over eight years, with him taking on Miles Morales as a protégé after a radioactive spider also bites him.
In a recent gameplay reveal for the upcoming title, Peter Parker was seen sporting his iconic symbiote suit, also known as the black suit. He’s shown to have some interesting powers thanks to the symbiote, as well as a more angry personality. In fact, in the dedicated story trailer, it looks as though the symbiote suit has taken over Peter at one point, with MJ hiding from him. It’s clear that Insomniac will be pushing Peter Parker and his friends into dark territory with the symbiote.
Spider-Man (Miles Morales)
Teenager Miles Morales started working at the F.E.A.S.T shelter after his father died in a terrorist attack in the first game, and while volunteering there, he meets Peter Parker and his aunt. He ends up getting bit by a radioactive spider from a secret lab in Oscorp, similar to how Peter first got his powers.
Between the first and second games, Miles was the protagonist in a spin-off game called Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales, where he took the main role of Spider-Man while Peter was away for a work trip. During the events of the spin-off, Miles learns he has a unique camouflage ability and he’s able to use bioelectricity abilities, unlike Peter Parker.
Here in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Miles is looking to build his future beyond high school, while balancing his role as a protector of New York. With Peter having gained or been consumed by the symbiote, their relationship will be tested and strained more than we’ve ever seen so far.
Venom
While Venom is an iconic villain in the Spider-Man mythos, not much is known about the version we will encounter in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. It’s probable that, based on events in the first game, we will see Peter’s friend Harry Osborn become Venom, due to the fact his father was using a black web-like substance (likely the Symbiote that becomes Venom) surrounding Harry as a way of treating his terminal illness.
During the Summer Game Fest 2023 stream, it was confirmed that Eddie Brock won’t be Venom this time around, seemingly confirming that Harry Osborn will be the villain in Insomniac’s series. In the dedicated story trailer for the game, it’s evident that Harry will play a key role in story, so it’s highly likely that we’ll see him become Venom during the events of the story.
Kraven
Always looking for the next big hunt, Kraven is a Russian big-game hunter who looks to be heading to New York to capture and kill the various villains that Spider-Man is typically hunting, as well as Peter Parker and Miles Morales themselves.
He hasn’t appeared in the Insomniac Games’ version of the web-crawler until now, being revealed as an antagonist in a recent gameplay reveal trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
Kraven and his crew are here in New York and out for blood, raging through the streets in search of our heroes, and even our villains. While Kraven likely isn’t the main big bad, as Venom could take that spot, he looks to a great antagonist so far that will put our heroes to the test.
Lizard
Dr. Curt Connors is a geneticist who, after creating a reptilian serum in hopes of regrowing his amputated arm, becomes the Lizard. Since his debut in the 1960s, the Lizard has been a problem for Spider-Man to deal with, however, he has been cured numerous times. In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the Lizard is one of the many targets that Kraven is hunting.
Ganke Lee
Best friend of Miles Morales, and returning side character for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Ganke Lee is a loyal companion to Miles during the events of the spin-off game, helping Miles by creating new gadgets as well as his new Spider-Man suit.
In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, it seems Ganke Lee is helping both Peter and Miles as they stop Kraven, using a drone to keep an eye on them so he can remain safe. He’s also aware of Peter Parker being the original Spider-Man, so it seems Peter trusts him with his secret identity.
Mary-Jane (MJ)
Mary-Jane, better known as MJ, is Peter’s friend and love interest, though they’ve had quite the rocky relationship. As an investigative journalist for the Daily Bugle, MJ digs into all the on-goings in New York for Peter to help him stay alert.
Interestingly, she was also a secondary playable character in the first game, and we expect she will be again in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. In fact, in the story trailer, we see MJ hiding from Peter, who has seemingly been corrupted by the symbiote suit. This could be teasing a stealth section where we, as MJ, must avoid detection.
Harry Osborn
Harry Osborn is Peter’s best friend and he is taking centre stage in the sequel, possibly even as Venom himself. At the end of the first game, we saw that Harry is terminally ill, though his father, Norman Osborn, was conducting experiments in search of a cure.
In the latest story trailer, it’s evident that Norman found a cure, though it’s likely not without a grave cost that will see Harry at odds with his best friends. No doubt Insomniac are going to pull on our heartstrings will some emotional scenes between Peter and Harry.
Norman Osborn
Norman Osborn was a key character in the first game, acting as the Mayor of New York City. Having hired Sable International to protect himself and Oscorp, Norman is partly responsible for all the chaos that ensued, particularly with Otto, better known as Doc Ock.
Now, it’s evident that Norman is back up to his machinations, having been searching for a cure for his terminally-ill son that might just bring chaos back to NYC once again.
Wraith
Wraith is a vigilante that you might know better as Yuri Watanabe from the first game. Yuri is a an NYPD captain and long-time ally of Spider-Man that has now turned to her vigilante persona, Wraith, to ensure justice is upheld.
Rumored Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 characters
While not confirmed yet, there are a few characters we believe will make an appearance in the second game, based on their importance in Marvel’s Spider-Man and the spin-off.
Firstly, we’re likely to see Aaron Davis, Miles’ uncle and former villain Prowler, who vowed to be a better person after the events of the spin-off game, alongside Miles’ mother Rio Morales, who is now part of the City Council for New York.
We also anticipate a few villains to make their returning appearance from previous games. While we know Norman Osborn is back, we expect to see his alter ego Green Goblin appear, as is frequent in the comics and other media. Other members of the Sinister Six, such as Electro and Vulture, are likely to be referenced to, if not side villains in their own right.
